Our time on Route 66 had ended and we were really looking forward to having a base to relax and find our feet with long term travel. Before we set off we’d managed to secure a house sit with someone with not one but five dogs! It was a little bit daunting at first but we were determined to make it a success.
We were based in the Highlands of Scotland, not far from the city of Inverness and our charges were the cutest dogs you could ever meet – they were Bedlington Terriers, which have a little bit of a lamb look going on!
This was the youngest – only 6 months old
I was so looking forward to lazing on a couch – oh well!
We were housesitting for a month which meant that we had a lot of time to explore the area around Inverness. We did lots but never felt rushed. We went to the beach to spot dolphins, explored Hugh Miller’s cottage in Cromarty on the Black Isle, explored Inverness and searched for Nessie at Loch Ness.
Exploring Hugh Miller’s Cottage
Most of all we loved just exploring the countryside that Scotland had to offer – how can you resist gorgeous views like this on your doorstep?
We had an amazing time here, even looking after 5 dogs! It sounded like a huge undertaking, but really they were no bother and slept a lot! Scotland always has a place in our hearts!
